A Meditation on Forces
Delightful dreams draw me drowsily down
cotton candy skies singing a lullaby,
twirling me slowly to their sound
Bacchus struck as lightning strikes with anandamide,
And I don’t mind as rhythmic winds whirl me round
A confession of confection,
I glide with this centripetal force
pulling me in to your grounded direction
stretching the senses, falling defenses into pleasurable constellations,
I am torrentially thrust through tidal transformations
Merciless waves sway
to the madness of the moon,
crashing into the sand
where I stand on the bay,
Clutching a note bearing your name
nestled in a bottle
But the tide retreats, barring open truths
That this note was written long ago,
when fervor filled our every line,
now faded ink where fire once flowed,
our bond, a faded echo on a shoreline.
You sit beside me, flesh and bone,
yet worlds away, we drift alone,
two satellites in orbit’s trace,
as hearts, once locked, now lost in space,
and the forces that bind now long overthrown.
So here, beneath these cooling skies,
I see the truth in quiet sighs,
to hold you close would be to bind
These distant memories that need to fly,
I let you go, our past enshrined,
For in letting go, my heart ignites.
